March 2, 2015 - Replica Knob Update #2

While not perfect, my pragmatic perfectionism(TM) says "this is good enough" - at least as a starting point. :-)

I am exceptionally pleased at how the knob texture is perfect!

    1. Thanks, Ted. Nooooo! Send a broken knob to me, get a replicated one back, on your original knob collar. Keeps cost down. :-)

    1. Yes. Urethane resin. Very, very strong. I beat on one of these knobs with a ball peen hammer on a vise's anvil - it had to be almost 20 blows before a piece broke off the knob. Needless to say, it's a bit more resilient than the current state of most 80 year old platen knobs. :-)

    1. Bill - haha. There's someone out there doing just that, but the pricing is a little steep. He does a good job with the color match, which I have yet to perfect for the green Hermes knobs.
A fellow collector sent me a set of 2nd Gen knobs that I am creating moulds for now. I just have to figure out the color. ;-)
